Head Start has always partnered with the parents/guardians of our Head Start children with reaching our school readiness goals. The time spent in the home working on education-based activities is just as important as the work done in the classroom. We document the time spent at home working on tasks related to the classroom curriculum to not only support student learning outcomes but also to support federal funding match requirements. What this means is that as a recipient of Head Start Federal Dollars, CAPK is required to contribute a 20% match of funding from a non-federal source. The terminology used is “In-Kind”. Your time spent helping your child at home with the education is an allowable source of inkind.
